3.2.4 Safe to install
This application enables users to monitor their energy consumption by adding gas, electricity, or water meters to the database and inputting current meter readings periodically. Readings can be color-coded and users have the option to add comments to note special circumstances that could explain any unusual energy usage patterns. The app does not mandate a fixed reading interval, allowing users to take readings at their convenience.
Based on the entered data, the application calculates the average normalized consumption rate per hour, day, week, or month (between two readings) and generates a graph illustrating the consumption rate over time. It also displays the total amount of energy consumed each day, week, month, or quarter in the form of a bar graph or table. If users provide the average cost per unit, the graphs can show monetary values instead of energy consumption amounts.
For Cloud Sync capabilities, users can utilize Export/Import via Google Drive to synchronize database contents across multiple devices.
The application can automatically detect meter exchanges or resets, ensuring seamless recording of consumption data even after resets occur.
Users can employ pinch-zoom functionality on trend and bar graph pages. In landscape orientation, comments are displayed in a list view.
The application supports indirect metering by multiplying the meter value with a specific factor to convert it into the final energy value. Users can input separate unit texts for the meter reading and the actual energy value.
Meters can be set to count backwards, useful for prepaid meters to display the remaining prepaid energy rather than the used energy amount.
Virtual meters allow users to aggregate individual meters and perform basic unit conversions, such as from cubic meters (m3) to kilowatt-hours (kWh). It is recommended to read physical meters simultaneously when they are part of a virtual meter for optimal results.
Meter data can be imported from and exported to CSV files via the context menu of each meter entry (long-press on the meter). Editing and deleting meters are also possible through this context menu.
In addition to meter readings, users can record sensor data like temperature or wind speed. Currently, this data is displayed separately but may be integrated with meter data in future updates.
ECAS is currently available in various languages maintained by different contributors. Users interested in running ECAS in their native language can visit the official website for translation options.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The trend graph does NOT display the total energy usage; this information is provided by the bar graph. The trend graph illustrates usage values normalized to a specific time period (hour/day/week/month or year), explaining how a measured usage within an hour translates to a daily rate. This design choice provides insights into consumption patterns rather than total usage amounts.
